InBody Body Composition DeviceUsing our InBody Body Composition device, a type of Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA), physicians can assess your body composition, a measurement of your body fat in relation to lean body mass. Excess fat, also known as altered body composition, is related to significantly greater risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and many other chronic diseases. Over 100 independent studies, conducted by researchers over the past 20 years, have shown the efficacy and usefulness of bioimpedance analysis for testing body composition.

Most importantly, body composition testing is a tool that is used with most patients to measure progress as they work toward their goals of better health. For example, when patients are following FirstLine Therapy and they come into the office for a follow-up visit, we can use BIA to assess what has happened to body composition. Changes tracked only by using weight on the scale are often misleading. A patient may have lost only one pound on the scale, but when we run the BIA we often reveal that they have lost perhaps three pounds of fat and gained two pounds of muscle – a very encouraging finding!

Our InBody Body Composition Analysis Device is a sophisticated computerized analysis that is performed in the office, taking only a few minutes. While you stand on the device, fully clothed, an imperceptible electric current is passed through the bottoms of your feet and your hands. The computer then produces a detailed calculation of your tissue and fluid composition in each body segment (each arm, each leg, and torso), as well as visceral fat (fat surrounding major organs), basal metabolic rate (calories you burn in a day), and both intra- and extracellular water.

You do not need to be a patient to use this service, however if you have the test performed during an office visit your provider can review your results with you. If you would like to have your results reviewed with you by a physician without establishing care, a 15 minute review of your results can be scheduled for an additional $25 ($20 InBody Analysis + $25 Physician Review = $45).
